Human rights activist Marina Litvinovich was fined for mentioning Smart Voting at a rally; she will be banned from participating in elections for a year

Judge Mazurov of the Savelovsky District Court of Moscow fined Marina Litvinovich, a former member of the POC, 2,000 rubles under a protocol on the demonstration of extremist symbols (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). She herself announced this.

“In my speech on September 20, 2021, I said aloud“ Smart Voting ”several times when I spoke at a meeting of Communist Party deputies with voters, which was on Pushkinskaya Square the day after elections. Now for a year I will be deprived of the opportunity to be elected in any election,” Litvinovich wrote.

The human rights activist noted that she did not plan to participate in the next municipal elections, as she wanted to help other candidates. Litvinovich said that she learned about the protocol by accident, looking through the database of Moscow courts.

In 2021, Litvinovich took part in the elections to the State Duma. Then she was expelled from the public monitoring commission of Moscow. The official reason for this decision in the POC was that Litvinovich «disclosed the data of the investigation» in the case of Lyubov Sobol and thereby violated the federal law «On Public Control».
