The Orenburg colony refused the demand to transfer Viktor Filinkov, convicted in the «Penza case» to prison

The administration of the Orenburg IK-1 general regime withdrew from the court the proposal to transfer Viktor Filinkov, convicted in the «Penza case», to prison. This was announced by lawyer Vitaly Cherkasov.

In the spring, the submission was filed with the Central District Court of Orenburg because of the penalties imposed on Filinkov in the colony. The reason for them was, for example, that he did not say hello to the employee, went without a jacket before going to bed, or moved away from the machine in the sewing shop to ask others for advice. Because of them, Filinkov was regularly sent to a punishment cell or strict detention conditions.

Filinkov and his lawyers have been challenging the penalties in court since last year. “Of the 9 judgments rendered in our favor, the 5th has already entered into force,” they noted.

“[The IK-1 staff] themselves realized that after a number of penalties imposed on Viktor were canceled in the courts, the court would not agree with the colony’s argument about the need to transfer the sunny guy to a prison regime,” Cherkasov said.

In 2020 Petersburg, the 2nd Western District Military Court in St. Petersburg sentenced Filinkov to seven years in prison in the case of «a terrorist community «Network»«. He was found guilty of participating in a terrorist community (Part 2 of Article 204.5 of the Criminal Code). Filinkov was the first of the accused to report torture by security forces.
