MOSCOW, Jul 9 Winner of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) belt in the first Middleweight champion Magomed Kurbanov defeated ex-WBO champion Brazilian Patrick Teixeira in the main fight of the RCC Boxing Promotions tournament in Yekaterinburg. The Russian won in a ten-round fight by unanimous decision (97-92, 98-91, 99-90). For Kurbanov, this victory was the 23rd in 23 fights, 16 of which ended in a knockout. Teixeira suffered his fourth defeat in his 31st victory. Kurbanov and Teixeira were supposed to fight in Yekaterinburg in December 2021, but the fight was canceled a few hours before the start due to health problems with the Russian. The teams of athletes agreed to postpone the fight to 2022. On the undercard, the undefeated Russian boxer Pavel Silyagin in the second middleweight was stronger than the Mexican Jose de Jesus Macias, and the 2016 Olympic champion Evgeny Tishchenko won an early victory over Kureysh Sagov in his eleventh professional fight in first heavyweight.
