Previously, only residents of the DPR, LPR, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions had this right. According to Ganchev, this decision in the Kharkiv region has been expected for a long time. He noted that the region feels the support of Russia. “The signing of the decree on the simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship is a significant event for us. Now our task is to establish the process of obtaining citizenship, to prepare the appropriate sites,” Ganchev said. During the special operation, the forces of the Russian Federation and the LPR took control of part of the Kharkov region. The provisional civil administration of the Kharkiv region created four district administrations in the liberated territories with administrative centers in the cities of Volchansk, Izyum, Kupyansk and the village of Kazachya Lopan. In the liberated territories, a dual-currency system is used — the Ukrainian hryvnia and the ruble are in use. Residents of these areas are paid one-time allowances.
