Nine Khakass National Guardsmen filed lawsuits with the Supreme Court of the region after being dismissed from service for refusing to fight in Ukraine

At least nine National Guardsmen filed claims with the Supreme Court of Khakassia seeking reinstatement after they were fired for refusing to fight in Ukraine. The head of Agora, Pavel Chikov, was informed about this by lawyer Vladimir Vasin, who defends the editor-in-chief of the New Focus, Mikhail Afanasyev.

Afanasiev is accused of spreading «fake news» about the army using his official position (paragraph «a» of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) because of his publication about 11 security officials from Khakassia who refused to advance into Ukraine. On April 15, the Abakan City Court sent the journalist to a pre-trial detention center.

The cases of the National Guardsmen, who filed with the Supreme Court of Khakassia, according to Vasin, are being considered behind closed doors, since they contain state secrets.

Taiga.info and Novaya Gazeta. Europe”, referring to the materials of the case against Afanasiev, according to which the Khakass National Guardsmen were interrogated, they wrote that they were sent to the war in order to “guard the streets of Kyiv”. One of them said that a detachment from Khakassia was heading to Ukraine as part of a three-kilometer-long convoy.

In April, Chikov wrote that servicemen and soldiers of the National Guard from 17 cities reported to lawyers about layoffs and threats after refusing to go or return to the war. For example, 12 security officials from Krasnodar, who were conducting exercises in Crimea in February, refused to go to the war, considering the order illegal. After an internal audit, they were fired, then they filed a lawsuit against the department, but during the preliminary court hearing, nine people abandoned their claims.

Most of all — about 500 people — returned from Ukraine to Kabardino-Balkaria, although they were threatened with the status of «war criminals», Mediazona found out. Most of all claims due to dismissals from service, only 140, were filed just in this region.

At the end of May, the Nalchik garrison military court did not satisfy the claim of 115 employees of the National Guard from Kabardino-Balkaria. The court decided that they “arbitrarily refused to perform their official assignment” and returned to their permanent place of service and recognized the arguments of the plaintiffs as “unfounded”.
