MOSCOW, July 19 Two-time Olympic champion Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu at the press conference announced his retirement. «I will no longer compete with other skaters as an athlete,» the Agence France Presse quoted the 27-year-old Japanese as saying. Hanyu is 27 years old. He is a two-time Olympic champion (2014, 2018), a two-time world champion (2014, 2017), a four-time Grand Prix Finals winner and a Four Continents Tournament (2020) winner in men's singles. In March, the Japanese missed the World Figure Skating Championships due to a right ankle injury sustained while performing at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, where he failed to defend the title and finished fourth.
