File photoMOSCOW, July 19Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed new heads of departments of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in five regions, according to decrees published on his website. SBU in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Transcarpathian and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The day before, Zelensky signed decrees on the removal of Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova and acting head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov for numerous facts of treason among employees of two departments. The deputy head of Zelensky's office, Andrey Smirnov, later explained that they were suspended for the period of investigation. Zelensky also said that a personnel audit was being carried out in the SBU, the issue of dismissal of 28 officials due to unsatisfactory performance was being resolved.
