
MOSCOW, Jul 19 Athlete Anzhelika Sidorova won the pole vault at championship of Moscow. She overcame a height of 4.86 meters, which was the best result of the season in the world. Prior to this, the best result belonged to the American Cathy Nujott (4.85). The second was Polina Knoroz (4.70 meters), the third place went to Ekaterina Brianchina (4.40). Sidorova is 31 years old, she won silver at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, losing to Najott. The Russians also won the 2019 World Cup and the 2014 European Championship. At the European indoor championships, she twice became the champion. The Council of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) on March 1, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international tournaments, including the World Championships in Eugene.
