Media: Austria prepares to survive in conditions of gas shortage

Vienna, Austria. Archival photoMOSCOW, 21 Jul. In Austria, on the eve of the start of the heating season, a difficult situation is developing in the field of education due to the need to save energy, writes Der Standart. In particular, big problems are predicted with schools that are heated by gas. A solution with distance learning is being discussed: if it is no longer possible to heat all classes, students will be collected in the remaining classes or in the gym, and, if necessary, taught digitally. Kindergartens, in turn, are proposed to be equipped with special containers for heating. To save energy also offers a number of other restrictions. In particular, we are talking about the priority of different buildings: for example, an indoor swimming pool can quickly be affected by restrictions on opening hours or water temperature. The same applies to heating buildings with no systemic importance, such as youth centres.Media: Brussels wants to force Europeans to save gas Earlier on Tuesday, European Commissioner for Budget Johannes Hahn said that the European Commission is preparing for the fact that gas supplies via Nord Stream will not be resumed after the completion of planned preventive work. Russia gave no reason for such fears. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stressed that the reduction in gas supplies to a number of European countries is due to problems with Siemens turbines, there is nothing deliberate on the Russian side. According to him, these are the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions. Canada, in turn, at the request of Germany, decided to release the equipment of the Russian company from restrictions until the end of 2024. According to media reports, one of the turbines for Nord Stream is already on its way and may return to Russia approximately on July 24. As the Kremlin has repeatedly stressed, Russia does not use gas as a weapon. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that Moscow is consistently fulfilling all its obligations and can still ensure the full energy security of Europe. Russia is able to ensure that there are no sky-high bills for electricity and heat, which taxpayers in European countries are now receiving, he added.
