The Russian Orthodox Church has developed amendments to the bill on the transfer of sacred objects to religious organizations from museum funds. Abbess Ksenia Chernega, head of the legal department of the Moscow Patriarchate, told Interfax about this. alt=»1″ />ArticleAndrey Rublev's Trinity was taken from the Tretyakov Gallery to Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The icon was provided for worship, despite the protests of the restorers

Changes were proposed to be introduced into the bill on securing the principle of the integrity of the collection of museums in Russia, which involves amendments to Article 26 of the law «Fundamentals of Legislation on Culture» and Articles 7 and 16 of the law » On the Museum Fund and museums in the Russian Federation.

As Chernega clarified, the innovations are aimed at ensuring that exhibits of «religious purpose», owned by the state, are transferred to churches free of charge with the permission of the Ministry of Culture.

Earlier, the icon of Andrei Rublev «Holy Trinity» was temporarily transferred to the use of the Russian Orthodox Church from the Tretyakov Gallery, despite the objections of art historians and restorers. Experts argued that it was impossible to transport the icon: its safety depends on harsh temperature conditions and a certain humidity, which can only be created within the walls of the museum.
