UN: Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 5,237 civilians have died

Since February 24, 5,237 civilians, including 348 children, have been killed in hostilities in Ukraine. The statistics for five months were published by the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

According to UN estimates, 2,019 men, 1,379 women, 143 girls and 164 boys, as well as 41 children and 1,491 adults died, the sex of which not installed yet. 7,035 people were injured, including 1,384 men, 1,017 women, 150 girls, 215 boys, and another 195 children and 4,074 adults whose gender is unknown.

As specified in the organization, the largest number of dead and wounded was recorded in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions — 3,089 people were killed and 3,760 were injured. In territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, 2,848 people were killed and 2,820 were injured — in territories controlled by the Russian authorities, 241 were killed and 940 were injured.

The rest of the deaths and injuries in hostilities occurred in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Sumy, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Rivne, Vinnitsa, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr regions, while they were under the control of Ukraine. 2,148 people died there, another 3,275 were injured, the UN calculated.

Yesterday, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reported 358 dead and 686 injured children since the beginning of the war. Most affected minors in the Donetsk region — 362, Kharkov — 194, Kyiv — 116, Chernihiv — 68, Lugansk — 61, Mykolaiv — 55, Kherson — 54, Zaporozhye — 40.
