MOSCOW, Aug 3 Former Formula 1 driver Alessandro Zanardi, Italy was hospitalized after a fire at his own villa, according to Sky Sports Deutschland. It is noted that the villa of the 55-year-old Italian caught fire on Tuesday, the cause of the fire was a wiring problem. Due to the fire, medical devices that maintain Zanardi's condition were damaged, so he was hospitalized in a clinic in the city of Vicenza (Italy). Zanardi, who lost both legs in an accident in 2001, collided with a truck in June 2020 during a cycling race in Italy. The Italian with multiple injuries was taken to the hospital by helicopter and was in intensive care. He underwent a series of operations and a long rehabilitation program. The Italian competed in Formula 1 from 1991 to 1994, and also in 1999. In the American CART series, he became the champion twice. He has four gold medals at the Paralympic Games in road cycling.
