MOSCOW, Aug 3 Andrey Rubin died at the age of 43, according to the website of the Latvian Football Federation (LFF). The cause of death was not reported. Rubin began his professional career in 1996 at the Latvian club Auda. He also played for the Swedish Esther, the Latvian Skonto and Metallurg, the English Crystal Palace, the Russian Shinnik and Spartak, as well as the Azerbaijani Inter, Karabakh and Simurg, where he completed career in 2012. As part of Spartak, the midfielder became the silver medalist of the Russian Championship in 2007.
Rubin played 117 matches for the Latvian national team. He has the second highest number of games for the national team. Rubin took part in all three matches of the Latvian national team at the 2004 European Championship — the only one in the history of the team.
