Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. File photoMOSCOW, Aug 4The Council of the European Union added former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son Alexander to the list of sanctions related to the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
"The Council added the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son Oleksandr Yanukovych to the list of persons, organizations and bodies subject to restrictive measures for their role in undermining the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine", the communiqué says.
Earlier, Yanukovych and his son were included in the EU sanctions lists in connection with accusations of embezzlement of public funds.
