Position of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in relation to sanctions against Russian athletes remains unchanged, the press service of the organization said, answering a question about the attitude towards the initiative of coach Eteri Tutberidze to “freeze” the rating of skaters. Earlier, Tutberdize called international competitions, updating world ratings and distribution of titles absurd in the absence of Russian athletes. «The position of the IOC regarding sanctions and protective measures related to the special operation of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, as well as the support of this special operation by Belarus, remains unchanged,» the press service of the organization said. At the end of February, the IOC recommended that international sports federations prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations excluded Russians and Belarusians from competitions under their auspices, and also canceled the competitions in Russia, other federations allowed athletes in a neutral status.
