MOSCOW, Aug 7 Russian Arkady Dvorkovich after his re-election as President of the International Chess federation (FIDE) thanked the members of his team and everyone who helped him. On Sunday, at the FIDE General Assembly, Dvorkovich was re-elected for a new four-year term. 157 delegates voted for him. Also, the Ukrainian Andriy Barishpolets, who was supported by 16 delegates, applied for the presidency. Belarusian Inalbek Sheripov withdrew from the elections for health reasons on Tuesday, Frenchman Bahar Kuatli announced his refusal to run for office during the General Assembly. «Many thanks to everyone for their support. I want to thank my team members and all the people who helped us during this period. I I appreciate every vote and that you voted for the positive program that we have formulated for FIDE and which we have already tried and are trying to implement over the past years.We look forward to working with each of you in the next four years.It is a great honor for me , the privilege and happiness to work for you as one team and as one family. Thank you,” said Dvorkovich, quoted by the official website of the Russian Chess Federation. Dvorkovich has been heading FIDE since October 2018.
