MOSCOW, 8 Aug. Bronze medalist of the 2014 Olympic Games in the marathon skier Ilya Chernousov became assistant coach of the Liechtenstein national team, according to the official website of the Liechtenstein Ski Association. Chernousov replaced Norwegian Caroline Moen Guidun at the headquarters. Chernousov is 36 years old. The athlete has not played in the Russian national team since 2016. He is married to Swiss biathlete Selina Gasparin. In May 2020, the International Ski Federation (FIS) announced that Chernousov was one of the athletes whose applications to change sports citizenship were approved at a council meeting. In December of the same year, the skier received Swiss citizenship. The athlete stated that he intended to compete at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, but could not qualify for the Games.
