A resident of the Kyakhtinsky district of Buryatia received 7 million rubles for her son who died in the war in Ukraine and gave them to scammers. Denis Leonov, Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of Buryatia, told the publication Number One about this.
After receiving compensation, the woman received a call from people who introduced themselves as government employees and offered help in buying an apartment in the Moscow region and a car. The mother of the deceased soldier transferred the money to the interlocutors.

The scammers also asked her to give them the numbers of other acquaintances who had lost their sons in the war in Ukraine, promising that they would contact them and inform them of help. She gave them the number of the headmistress of the local school, with whom at first they spoke “kindly.”
“The headmaster told them that there was no money, everything was distributed to relatives as needed. And at that moment they began to speak to her already in a rude manner. The question was asked: «Why are you sending your sons to another country to kill?» — said "Number One" Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of Buryatia Denis Leonov.
Having learned about the dubious calls from the director of a local school, Oksana Gerasimenko, the organizer of charitable gatherings in Kyakhta, contacted the police.
As Denis Leonov notes, this is the first time such a case has occurred in Buryatia. The police started checking.
