SOCHI, 9 Aug. SKA Petersburg beat the Russian young stars team (under 25) in the final match of the pre-season hockey tournament in Sochi.
The meeting ended with a score of 5:1 (0:0, 2:0, 3:1 ) in favor of SKA. As part of the winners, Marat Khairullin (23rd, 41st minutes) scored a double, Damir Zhafyarov (25), Mikhail Pashnin (42) and Daniil Pylenkov (60) also scored. Grigory Kuzmin (47) scored the puck against the losing team.
Omsk Avangard became the winner of the pre-season tournament in Sochi with eight points. The second was SKA (8 points), losing to the «hawks» due to the defeat in a personal meeting. Third place was taken by Dynamo Minsk (4), Admiral Vladivostok (4), fifth — Russian young stars (4), Sochi — sixth (2).
Most Valuable Player of the Tournament became SKA forward Zhafyarov. Best goalkeeper recognized his teammate Alexander Samonov, defender — Christian Yarosh («Avant-garde»), forward — Dmitry Buchelnikov (team of young stars of Russia).
