MOSCOW, Aug 11 participation in the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships at her own expense, according to the official website of the organization. On Tuesday, a meeting of the LVF board was held, where it was decided that the athlete could continue to participate in competitions at her own expense. On behalf of the organization, the athlete was sent an official letter, to which she is obliged to respond within a week. LVF Secretary General Natalia Prokofieva, whose words are quoted by Delfi with reference to the LETA agency, explained that the federation cannot ensure the participation of an athlete in competitions at the expense of the organization, which do not come from the state budget. Polstyanaya began her career in Russia, but in 2018 she became a citizen of Latvia and began playing for the national team. On Friday, the athlete announced that she was banned from participating in the 2022 World Championships. Explaining her statement in more detail, Polstyanaya told LETA that she had been sent a letter with an ultimatum: to renounce Russian citizenship and continue to represent Latvia, or be expelled from the national team.
