Narva. File photoHELSINKI, Aug 16 Estonia closed the border at the Narva-Ivangorod border crossing point with Russia, presumably in connection with the dismantling of the T-34 memorial tank and other Soviet memorials in Narva, Delfi reported on Tuesday «According to eyewitnesses, Estonian border guards have not allowed people traveling from the Russian Federation to pass for several hours, including residents of Estonia. The portal does not yet have data on when the border will open,» the message says. Delfi suggests that the temporary closure of the border is due with the fact that on Tuesday the T-34 memorial tank and other Soviet memorials are being dismantled in Narva. The state broadcasting portal ERR previously reported that the tank had already been removed from the pedestal and loaded onto a military trailer, which began moving towards Tallinn. The tank will be delivered to the Estonian War Museum in the village of Viimsi near Tallinn. The dismantling of other Soviet monuments continues. On Tuesday morning, the Estonian government announced that it had decided to transfer the tank — the T-34 monument from Narva to the Estonian War Museum, and six more Soviet monuments would also be dismantled. According to Prime Minister Kai Kallas, the tank is being moved from Narva for internal security reasons.
