MOSCOW, Aug 16 The World Council of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) voted in favor the approval of the new regulation for Formula 1 engines, which will come into force in 2026, is reported on the FIA website. According to the regulation, the new six-cylinder power plants will run on a new synthetic type of fuel, and will also use more electrical energy. A financial component was also agreed upon, limiting the costs of the teams. The council also voted for the adoption of measures in the technical regulations of the 2022 and 2023 seasons aimed at reducing the impact of the vertical swing of the car and increasing the safety of riders. Some of them will come into force from the Belgian Grand Prix, which will be held at the end of August, and some from the 2023 season. After the accident at the British Grand Prix, the FIA introduced a provision to increase the strength of the upper roll bar in the regulations. Racing on the track «Silverstone» was stopped by red flags due to an accident in which five riders were involved. Alfa Tauri pilot Pierre Gasly made contact with George Russell's Mercedes, which, having lost control, crashed into Zhou Guangyu's Alfa Romeo. The car of the Chinese racer rolled over, flew at high speed on the roof, first on the asphalt, then on the gravel and, turning over again several times, flew out of the protective barriers. The rider was hospitalized.
