Archive photoMOSCOW, Aug 19Afghanistan, with proper investment in the energy sector, can generate up to 70 thousand megawatts of electricity and share it with neighboring countries, invites Russian companies to participate in projects, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan said in an interview with RIA Novosti Nuriddin Azizi. «Afghanistan has a capacity of 70,000 megawatts of electricity. Half of these volumes can be produced by hydrogeneration — on rivers, another 50 percent — wind, solar generation, as well as the use of coal. For Afghanistan, 70,000 megawatts is excess capacity, so we can export this electricity to the countries of the region, including our neighbors — India and Pakistan,» the minister said. «We have a number of unfinished projects in this area, and we invite investors to take part in them, including a good opportunity for Russian companies,» Azizi said. According to him, among such CASA-1000 projects, international donors are already financed it by 30 percent.

This will be beneficial not only for Afghanistan, the people of our country, but also for the investors themselves.
