Four Russians will play in the Grand Prix chess series


MOSCOW, Aug 19 Russian chess players Alexandra Goryachkina, Ekaterina Lagno, Alexandra Kosteniuk and Polina Shuvalova will play in the Grand Prix series of the 2022/23 season, according to the website of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Four stages will be held. Goryachkina, Lahno and Shuvalova will play at the stages in Kazakhstan (Nur-Sultan, September 17-30, 2022), India (March 2023) and Poland (Bydgoszcz, May 2023), Kosteniuk — in Kazakhstan, Germany (Munich, February 1-14, 2023) and Poland. The prize fund of each stage will be 80 thousand euros, another 80 thousand will be distributed among the top eight according to the results of the competition. The two best chess players out of 16 after four stages will receive the right to participate in the 2023 Season Candidates Tournament /24. The current winner of the Grand Prix series is Goryachkina.
