A Ukrainian drone attacking the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in the morning was shot down from an air defense post, after which the UAV fell on the roof of the building and caught fire. In addition, the air defense system went off in the west of the peninsula.On the night of August 20, Ukrainian troops fired at Melitopol from the Tochka-U tactical missile system in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. As a result of the shelling, houses of civilians on Sovetskaya and Herzen streets were damaged, and also partially or completely destroyed. One person received a slight foot injury. Russia has been conducting a military operation in Ukraine since February 24. Vladimir Putin called its task «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» According to him, the ultimate goal of the operation is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions guaranteeing the security of Russia itself.
