Doctors' case. How the Kaliningrad doctors accused of killing a baby were tried
When the doctors' case was considered in Kaliningrad, Belaya and Sushkevich were acquitted by the jury, but later the decision was canceled. According to the court, the defense through the media “discredited the prosecution”, and the information about the defendants on the Internet “caused pity” among the jury.
At the request of Deputy Prosecutor General Igor Tkachev, the trial was transferred to a Moscow Region court. Due to the fact that the doctors did not have registration there, both were sent to the Moscow SIZO-6 «Pechatniki».
Elina Sushkevich's lawyer Kamil Babasov told Kommersant that the prosecutor's office did not present new evidence. At the same time, according to him, “the judge did not accept a single petition of the defense, including a speech before the jury of neonatologists and a toxicologist.”
