MOSCOW, Aug 25 Former world heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman stand trial on juvenile sex charges in the 1970s, the New York Times reports. The lawsuit was filed in a California court by two women now in their 60s. They claim to have met Foreman when they were under 10 through their fathers. One man was a boxer and sparring partner for Foreman, and the other was a boxing manager and adviser to the former world champion. It is noted that Foreman courted the girls for several years. Then he forced them to have sex in a variety of places — from a hotel in San Francisco to an apartment in Beverly Hills. According to the lawsuit, one of the victims could not then talk about the violence from Foreman, who threatened that her father could lose his job if she did not comply with his demands. In mid-July, Foreman denied these allegations, which he called «baseless threats and lies» . For the past six months, he said, the two women have «tried to extort millions of dollars from him.» Foreman is now 73 years old. He is a former two-time world boxing champion and 1968 Olympic champion. During his professional career, he won 76 victories with five defeats. His fortune is estimated at about $300 million.
