Most of all petitions from Russian citizens — 192 — were registered in July. According to German officials, the number of petitions has been gradually growing since the beginning of the war: in March, 137 applications were received from the Russians, in May — 179. At the same time, 102 petitions were filed in January, and 96 in December 2021.
The Migration Agency also reported that in the first seven months of the year, its employees considered 1,547 applications from Russians for political refugee status. A positive decision was made in 11.2% of cases. However, this statistic is not directly related to the number of applications filed in 2022. The decisions may also apply to people who applied for asylum even before the start of the war in Ukraine.
