MOSCOW, Aug 27 Russian MP Motorsport team driver Alexander Smolyar took third place in the sprint race of the seventh round of the Formula 3 championship — the Belgian Grand Prix, which takes place at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Briton Oliver Berman from the Prema team won. Finishing second was Trident's Johnny Edgar, but he was penalized for a collision at the start of the race and moved to fourth. The second place in the race was taken by the Czech driver Roman Stanek (+4.7). Smolyar was +5.6 seconds behind the winner. The race was stopped with red flags due to a serious accident involving Barbadian Trident driver Zane Maloney and Monegasque Oliver Goethe of Campos. On lap 8, there was contact between the cars, both flew off the track, Maloney's car turned over and was thrown onto Goethe's car. The pilots were able to leave the fireballs on their own. Smolyar (71 points) is in seventh place in the drivers' standings. Frenchman Isak Hadjar from Hitech GP (106 points) is in the lead. Earlier, Smolyar missed the British Grand Prix. The Russian pilot did not perform at the Silverstone track due to visa problems, he was replaced by Romanian Philip Ugran.
