MOSCOW, Aug 28 The International Skating Union (ISU) has reserved more than 2, $5 million to cover losses in case of crisis situations, including due to the non-admission of Russian athletes to international competitions, according to a financial report on the organization's website. The ISU created an anti-crisis reserve in 2019 in the amount of more than $5 million. At the end of 2021, just over 2.5 million remained in the fund. Half of the reserve was spent due to circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the ISU emphasizes that the decision to exclude athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus from participation in the competition has led to «other detrimental consequences for the organization's activities.» In particular, the absence of Russian skaters at the World Championships in March of this year led to a decrease in ISU revenue from media rights in Russia. At the same time, it is noted that holding ISU events in Russia or Belarus would also have a negative impact on the organization.
