British rock musician and founding member of Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne has announced his readiness to leave the United States, where he has lived permanently for more than twenty years, due to the increase in violence and crime. He stated this in an interview with The Observer. «I'm fed up with the daily killing of people. God knows how many people have already died due to attacks on schools,» he said. «I don't want to die in America. I'm English and I want to go home,» the musician added. Osborne's wife Sharon also noted that the United States has changed dramatically, and there is nothing «uniting» left in the country. «Now this is already an abnormal place to live,» she said.
In the US, the threat of a new civil war was frightenedThe problem of armed violence became the focus of attention of the US authorities after two May tragedies: an armed attack on a supermarket in Buffalo, where 10 people were killed, and the mass shooting at the Uvalde elementary school, where the perpetrator killed 19 children and two teachers. The law, signed into law by US President Joe Biden in late June, tightens screening of potential gun buyers aged 18 to 21, encourages states to enact regulations to deny possession of handguns and rifles to persons deemed a danger to society by a court, funds school security and psychological assistance to young people. Already after the signing of the law, there was a massacre at the parade in honor of July 4 in the suburbs of Chicago. A man killed seven people with an assault rifle and injured more than 20.
Four hundred mass shootings have been recorded in the United States since the beginning of the year
