Archival photoSIMFEROPOL, Aug 31 The special military operation in Ukraine could be given the status of a counter-terrorist operation, State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Mikhail Sheremet said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"Ukraine has become a stronghold and breeding ground for international terrorism. The actions of the Kyiv regime to destroy its own population, the shelling of peaceful cities and the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, attempts of aggression against neighboring states are criminal. Therefore, I believe that the nature of the special military operation in Ukraine should be changed. This is not just a special, but a counter-terrorist operation,” Sheremet noted.
According to him, the Kyiv regime has become a threat to the entire civilized world. Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin called its task «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» According to the president, the ultimate goal is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee the security of Russia itself. The Russian army, together with the forces of the DPR and LPR, completely liberated the Luhansk People's Republic and a significant part of Donetsk, including Volnovakha, Mariupol and Svyatogorsk.
