File photoDONETSK, Sep 1 Ukrainian troops fired five 155-millimeter caliber shells in the Kievsky district of Donetsk in the early morning, according to the Telegram channel of the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine.
"Shooting was recorded from the side of the VFU in the direction: 05.15 — the settlement of Orlovka — the city of Donetsk (Kyiv district): five shells of 155 mm caliber were fired", the publication says.
Artillery of 155 caliber millimeters is in service with NATO countries. The United States, Canada and Australia have supplied Ukraine with dozens of M777 long-range howitzers, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine use to shell cities and towns of the DPR, including Donetsk. The Kiev region of Donetsk is located in the northern part of the city. Here are Miner's Square, Kyiv Prospekt, the railway station, the Donbass Arena football stadium. Artem Street, the main artery in the city, also ends here. Since 2014, when the DPR declared independence from Kyiv after a coup d'état there, the area has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian security forces. The airport, which was destroyed as a result of many months of battles between the Ukrainian military besieged there and the Donetsk militias who stormed their positions, is considered to be the northern outskirts of the region. 18InfographicsInteractive map of the special operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine
