She works at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the University of Pristina. Since 1999, the Serbian part of this university has been located in the predominantly Serb city of Kosovska Mitrovica in northern Kosovo. On the border of Serbia and Kosovo, signs appeared on the recognition of documentsSince September 1, the Serbian authorities began to recognize documents issued by the authorities of the self-proclaimed Kosovo. This was a compromise measure in response to the Pristina authorities extending for two months the validity of car numbers and documents used by Serbs living in northern Kosovo. «It seems to be supposed to make life easier for ordinary residents of Kosovo, including Serbs, but in fact we we don’t know yet how this procedure will work. We live in constant tension,” Bajovic told RIA Novosti. She fears that the Pristina authorities will begin to insist that Kosovo Serbs receive local documents and car numbers as soon as possible, explaining that Belgrade now has them recognizes.
Vučić spoke about the failure of the Kosovo negotiations. «In fact, many Kosovo Serbs already have Kosovo documents, but now this process will go faster,» she fears. According to her, the Kosovo Serbs live under constant pressure from Pristina. understand that they are the main ones here. For example, now we have electricity cut off several times a day for several hours. They press as hard as they can,» the teacher said. According to Bajovich, now many Serbs from the central regions of the country travel to Kosovo to work and study: Kosovska Mitrovica is a large city by local standards and has a good big university. Bajović herself travels there to work from Belgrade. «Earlier, the Serbs had no problems with traveling there. They just have to stick their Serbian numbers on cars who drive cars. We hope it won't happen now either, but it's hard to say what will happen next «, she admits.Vucic reacted emotionally to the words of the US representative about Kosovo. At the same time, the Russian language is popular among schoolchildren and students of the Serbian north of Kosovo. «It is taught in all schools as a second foreign language after English. Many of our students sincerely love Russian literature and language, and Russia in general, so how they see her as an ally and defense of Serbia,» she says. Students willingly go to study Russian, philology and linguistics. Some of them then work in schools in Mitrovica as Russian language teachers. Despite the unstable political situation, the majority of Kosovo Serbs intend to stay in their small homeland after university, Bajovic said.
The agreement on entry documents kept peace in Kosovo, Serbian authorities believeThe situation around Kosovo escalated in July due to Pristina's plans to ban cars with Serbian numbers and documents from August 1 in the region. In the north of Kosovo, where many Serbs live, riots broke out, in response, the authorities of the self-proclaimed republic pulled the police there. But after a US request, the Kosovo authorities postponed the entry into force of the ban for a month, that is, until September 1. On the eve of this date, negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina resumed. As a result, Pristina extended the period for re-registration of cars from plates issued by the Serbian authorities to Kosovo license plates until October 31. Now Kosovo Serbs use car plates issued by the Serbian authorities with the numbers and letters KM («Kosovska Mitrovica» — ed.), which can also be interpreted as «Kosovo and Metohija» — the official name of the autonomous region according to the country's constitution. The Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina insist on the use of only license plates with RKS registration and symbols of the self-proclaimed republic from October 31, which is unacceptable for Belgrade.
