They have a winning bid, and we will do our best to help these countries that are passionate about football, live and breathe football and have good infrastructure,» Ceferin said on the website of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Spain and Portugal submitted a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup in June. The tournament will take place exactly one hundred years after the first ever world championship, which took place in Uruguay. Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile also bid to host the tournament. Previously, Spain and Portugal have already submitted a joint bid to host the 2018 World Cup, which eventually took place in Russia.
