NOVOGORSK (Moscow region), Sep 12, Andrey Simonenko. International Ski Federation sports (FIS) is not going to lift sanctions from Russia until the corresponding recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said the President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation Elena Vyalbe. At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations have followed this recommendation. «FIS, like all federations, has announced: what the IOC will do, we will do as well. The IOC has not officially announced anything yet, and therefore international federations do not announce it,» Vyalbe told reporters. At the end of February, she suspended Russian athletes from international competitions under her auspices because of the events in Ukraine. This decision was open-ended until further notice while it remains in effect.
