MOSCOW, 14 Sep. Symptoms of cancer can be detected by changes in the oral cavity, reports the Express portal. that persist for more than a week, numbness, patches of red and white on the gums, tongue, inside of the cheeks, or changes in speech. Such symptoms can signal cancer of the throat or mouth. It is noted that cancer can appear in any part of the oropharynx, and many symptoms can indicate its presence. Oral cancer usually shows up on the tongue, cheeks, lips, and gums. In rare cases, its traces are visible on the tonsils or in the trachea. Ulcers and abscesses can appear in the oral cavity due to allergies or due to stress or anxiety. The NHS recommends seeing a specialist if they persist for more than three weeks, keep reappearing, are closer to the throat, are larger than usual, bleed, hurt more, and are red.
