
SARATOV, Sep 16Governor of the Saratov Region Roman Busargin has appointed former Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov as a senator from the regional government, according to a decree of the head of the region. a document published by the governor's press service on the Telegram channel. Earlier, the speaker of the State Duma, a native of the Saratov region, Vyacheslav Volodin, said that if Denisov represented the Saratov region in the Federation Council, the region would only benefit, he had extensive experience in the diplomatic field, his achievements would help development region. Prior to this, Senator Sergei Arenin, who served as deputy chairman of the Federation Council committee on defense and security, was from the regional government in the Federation Council. On September 4, Denisov confirmed to RIA Novosti that he was leaving the post of head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Beijing after nine years of work. Denisov is a well-known Russian career diplomat, since 2003 he has the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. He has been in the diplomatic service since 1992, and over the 30 years of his successful career he has managed to work in various important positions both in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and abroad. From 2001 to 2004 he was the Russian Ambassador to Egypt, from 2001 to 2004 — Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, from 2004 to 2006 — Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN and the UN Security Council, in 2006-2013 — First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation. On April 22, 2013, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the PRC by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation and since then has headed the Russian diplomatic mission in Beijing.
