MOSCOW, Sep 17 Fabiano Caruana from the USA wins the Fischer Chess Tournament Chess 9LX, which took place in St. Louis, USA. Caruana and Frenchman Alireza Firouzja scored 6.5 points each after nine games. A tie-break was held to determine the winner of the tournament. Caruana beat Firouzja. In Armageddon, the American won with white pieces. Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi took third place in the tournament. He scored six points. The tournament was held according to the rules created by the 11th world champion American Robert Fisher, according to which competitions are held not with a fixed, but with an arbitrary (possibly 960 options) initial arrangement of figures. The time control was 20 minutes per game with an addition of five seconds from the first move. The prize fund of the competition is 150 thousand dollars.
