The department claims that at 11.10 local time (09.10 Moscow time) the commander of the military unit of the 707th Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, stationed in the former school building of the village of Koktosh, Batken district, contrary to requirements of the ceasefire agreement, arbitrarily gave the order to fire from all types of weapons at the border outpost «Dushanbe» of the border detachment «Isfara» and the village of Somoniyon in the city of Isfara. «This situation indicates that individual commanders are not subordinate to the central headquarters of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan,» — noted in the press center of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan. At 07.30 (05.30 Moscow time) on Saturday, a meeting was held between the commanders of the border troops of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the implementation of the conditions of the declared ceasefire. «During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of stabilizing the situation, returning additional forces and assets to their original positions,» the information says. Large-scale clashes on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan began on Friday morning. The parties accused each other of shelling. Fierce fighting between the military of the two countries lasted all day along almost the entire perimeter of the border. A ceasefire was achieved only by nightfall. Clashes resumed on Saturday morning. The parties accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement. The Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border often becomes a zone of conflict between local residents and border guards of the two countries. The reason for this is non-delimited sections where it is impossible to determine how the border between the states lies.
