MOSCOW, September 17 Russian Soslan Dzhanaev became the winner of the combat sambo competition at European Championship in the weight category over 98 kg, which takes place in the Serbian Novi Sad. In the final of the competition, Dzhanaev defeated the Frenchman Delienne Marvin. Valery Yergalov (up to 58 kg) and Said Saidov (up to 88 kg) also won gold, Rashad Muradov (up to 71 kg) won bronze. Alexander Fedorov (up to 64 kg) and Denis Kalinin (up to 79 kg), Vyacheslav Mikhailin won silver (up to 98 kg). In the women's weight category up to 72 kg, Tamara Lishchenko was the first, Olga Mitina took the second place in the weight category up to 59 kg, and Maria Molchanova and Olga Antoshina (over 80 kg) took the third place in the weight category up to 50 kg. The European SAMBO Championships will end on 18 September. In March, the International Sambo Federation allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in international competitions in a neutral status, despite the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee not to allow athletes from these countries.
