MOSCOW, Sep 19 Figure skater Diane Davis stated that she and her partner in ice dancing, Gleb Smolkin will not take part in the test skates of the Russian national team. On Monday, American journalist Dave Leese said that Davis and Smolkin became representatives of the US Figure Skating Association and will take part in the selection for the national team. Later, the Director General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan called this information nonsense, recalling that Davis and Smolkin are members of the Russian national team. Test skates of the national team will be held in Moscow on September 24-25. Davis and Smolkin are in the USA. «Due to the fact that we were unable to issue Gleb with documents allowing him to legally leave the country, we, unfortunately, will not be able to come to the test skates of the national team,» Davis wrote in Instagram stories (activity Meta (social networks Facebook and Instagram) is banned in Russia as extremist). Davis was born in the USA and is the daughter of Russian figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze. In a duet with Smolkin at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, she took 14th place. In December last year, Davis and Smolkin won the silver of the Russian championship.
