President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which the concepts of «mobilization», «martial law» and «wartime» will appear in the Criminal Code. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

In the article on aggravating circumstances (clause «l» of part 1 of Article 63 of the Criminal Code) the wording «during the period of mobilization or martial law, in wartime» was added , or in conditions of armed conflict or combat operations.
In addition, articles on looting (article 356.1 of the Criminal Code) and voluntary surrender (article 352.1 of the Criminal Code) will now appear in the Criminal Code with maximum terms of up to 15 and 10 years in prison, respectively, as well as articles related to violations of the terms of a state contract for a defense order ( articles 201.2, 201.3, 285.5, 285.6 of the CC). From today, the terms of punishment for leaving a unit during the period of “mobilization” and “martial law” will be increased to 10 years in prison (Article 337 of the Criminal Code).
The fact that deputies and senators submitted this bill for consideration became known the day before the announcement of «partial mobilization». On the same day, the State Duma approved the amendments in the second and third readings in a minute. The next day, the bill was approved by the Federation Council.
