"Dear citizens of the Russian Federations, we are forced to inform you that due to the hostile actions of the Montenegrin authorities against the Russian Embassy in Montenegro, the work of the consular department of the embassy has been stopped from September 30, 2022 for an indefinite period", the diplomatic mission said.
Consular services should be contact Russian embassies in neighboring countries, they added. The Montenegrin Foreign Ministry on Thursday declared six diplomats from the Russian embassy persona non grata. Moscow promised to respond to such actions of Podgorica. At the end of February, the Montenegrin Foreign Ministry announced its support for all restrictive measures against Moscow due to the special military operation being carried out in Ukraine, and since the beginning of March it has closed airspace for Russian aircraft. Also, official Podgorica repeatedly expelled Russian diplomats, provided material and military assistance to the authorities in Kyiv. Moscow retaliated by declaring several members of the Montenegrin embassy persona non grata.
