Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov reported the day before that an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries would be held on October 7 at the Konstantinovsky Palace. Peskov called it a very important event in the context of preparations for the CIS summit scheduled for next week. «Today, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will take part in an informal meeting of the CIS heads of state in St. Petersburg,» the press service said. CIS countries was held in 2021 and also in St. Petersburg. Then the Russian leader Vladimir Putin invited his colleagues to the northern capital before the New Year — on December 28th. The official CIS summit is scheduled to be held in Astana on October 14.
