MOSCOW, Oct 7 Calgary have signed defenseman Mackenzie Wigar to an eight-year contract , according to the website of the National Hockey League (NHL) club. Wigar's average annual salary will be $6.25 million. The contract will come into force next season, in the current one it will earn 3.25 million under the previous agreement. The Canadian will become the highest paid defender of the team. In the off-season, Wigar moved to Calgary from Florida along with forward Jonathan Huberdeau in exchange for forward Matthew Tkachuk. On account of Wigar 121 points (27 + 94) in 306 matches in the NHL regular season. In 2013, he was selected by the Florida Panthers with the 206th overall pick.
