
MOSCOW, Oct 8 Former Buffalo Sabres hockey player Dave Dryden, who is the creator of the modern version of the goalkeeper's mask, died at the age of 81, according to the club's official website. Dryden participated in the development of a modern goalkeeper's mask, made of fiberglass, with face protection in the form of a cage. After the end of his playing career, Dryden continued to work on improving the equipment of hockey players, paying special attention to improving safety. Dryden played for Buffalo from 1970 to 1974. The goalkeeper made 122 appearances for the club. In total, Dryden has 203 meetings in the NHL. The hockey player also played for the New York Rangers, Chicago and Edmonton. In addition, he has 242 games in the World Hockey Association (WHA).
