In Moscow, the police took a fifth-grader out of class because of an avatar with yellow and blue flowers; school director contacted the police

A resident of Moscow, who chewed to remain anonymous, said that police officers took her 10-year-old daughter from a school in Nekrasovka on Lev Yashin Street and took her to the district police department. The woman sent Mediazona a report on the delivery of a minor.

The mother of a fifth-grader told the human rights project OVD-Info that on October 5, while she was on her way to her daughter, police officer, juvenile affairs inspector D. V. Mzhelskaya asked the girl where her parents work and how they spend their leisure time in the family. As a result, the schoolgirl was taken to the Nekrasovka police department separately from her mother.

According to the mother, in the department, employees of the Center «E» studied the correspondence on her phone. There were also representatives of the guardianship. The woman added that they took explanations from her for three hours — questions related, among other things, to her daughter's profile picture with yellow and blue flowers.

A fifth grader's mother explained that she was called to school at the end of September to discuss her daughter's absences from Talking About Important. At the same time, the deputy director, the head teacher and three social teachers asked about the girl's avatar in a chat with classmates.

According to OVD-Info, on September 29, the school director turned to the head of the Nekrasovka district department — he «said well about the girl's academic performance and character», but asked «to examine the living conditions of the family and establish causal relationships <…> civic position» of the child.

The director also asked the police to «influence the educational position» of the mother, so that she would not «influence» her daughter with «the conviction of her own political views.»

Human rights activists specified that after that, the security forces also came home to the family without presenting documents and without introducing themselves, and the other day, inspector Mzhelskaya verbally told the mother that they would be called to the commission for preventive registration.

Since this school year, every Monday, schoolchildren sing the anthem and raise the flag, the first lesson of the day is «Talk about the important», during which children, among other things, are told about the war in Ukraine. Earlier, a primary school teacher from St. Petersburg reported on the director's instruction to conduct a conversation with second-graders «about responsibility for participating in unauthorized rallies.»
