He recalled that Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa, speaking at the 77th th session of the UN General Assembly, called for the immediate lifting of all sanctions against his country. «We would like to believe that the voice of our president has been heard loud and clear. These sanctions are not only contrary to international law… They are debilitating because our financial institutions cannot access sources of financing for the economic development of the country, and the poor suffer the most from this, also because the government does not have enough funds to import medicines to provide for the poorest segments of the population,» Mudenda said. He noted that access to medicine, to health care is one of the fundamental human rights, «this concerns ensuring the right to life.» «In this regard, we say that the sanctions are not just illegal, but completely inhuman, violating the rights to life of the people of Zimbabwe,» Mudenda said.Read the full text of the interview with Jacob Mudenda >>
