MOSCOW, Oct 11 Nutritionist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexei Kovalkov warned about the dangers of using diuretics and laxatives when losing weight. According to the specialist, such drugs adversely affect the kidneys and liver. In some cases, their use can be fatal.
"In our country, about 30% of the population have some degree of chronic renal failure. And they don't even know about it. Sometimes everything is revealed during the delivery of tests, but they are quite expensive and no one prescribes them just like that. Therefore, people walk around with ignorance, begin to stimulate the kidneys with diuretics. Against this background, you can die. The same thing happens with the liver. Fatty liver disease can develop into cirrhosis in some people. No one will know about this until they pass the tests", — quotes the words of Kovalkov URA.RU.
The nutritionist noted that diuretics and laxatives do not affect adipose tissue in any way. There is no connection in the body between it and the intestines or bladder.
"How can fat leak out of the subcutaneous tissue through the bladder or intestines? Against the backdrop of illiteracy of the population and unwillingness to turn to professional doctors, such myths arise", the expert added.
